Dimitar Petrov (born 1969) is a Bulgarian artist. Born in Kyustendil, Petrov trained at the Sofia School of Arts and the Bulgarian National Academy of Arts. A Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, Petrov did art residencies at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and in India. He has held more than fifteen solo exhibitions and has won many art awards for his paintings and murals. Petrov visited Sri Lanka in 1999 and was enamored by the country and its vibrant colors. He did many sketches and drawings during his stay in the island which form the basis for a series of paintings of Sri Lanka.
