Olof Winkler (1843-1895) Was a German artist. Born in Zschopental, Saxony, Winkler Studied in Rome for a couple years before enrolling at the Weimar School of Art. After having worked in Berlin, Leipzig and Düsseldorf, Winkler settled down in Dresden where he established himself as a painter and illustrator. Winkler never visited Ceylon but did several illustrations of the island based on the drawings of Ernst Haeckel and others.
