Orest Georgievich Betekhtin (born 1928) is a Soviet artist. In 1947, Betekhtin enrolled at the Art Department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He was a contemporary of some of the best-known Soviet-era artists and he maintained close creative communication and friendships with many of them throughout his career.
Starting in 1953, he regularly exhibited his work together with the leading masters of fine arts of Leningrad. He specialized in historical paintings, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. In 1956 Betekhtin became a member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. A Betekhtin retrospective was held at the St. Petersburg Union of Artists in 2004 and he was awarded the prestigious title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 2007. Works of Betekhtin are in many important museums and private collections in Russia and other countries. Betekhtin visited Ceylon in 1964.
