Senaka Senanayake (born 1951) is a Sri Lankan artist. A child prodigy, he held his first solo exhibition at the age of 10 in New York City. He attended Yale University where he studied art and architecture. Largely self taught, the years at Yale were crucial for him as was exposed to formal art training classes and helped expand his knowledge of the history of art.
After graduating from Yale, Senanayake immersed himself in painting. His years of training at Yale had helped develop a mode of expression which had matured greatly. He also began to delve deeper into the various environmental issues concerning Sri Lanka. Of particular interest were the rain forests and wildlife which are recurring themes in his work. His work has been shown to critical acclaim all over the world and to date he has held in excess of 100 solo exhibitions. His works are housed in many museums, galleries and private collections all over the world
