Saraswathi Rockwood (1925-2011) was a Sri Lankan artist. Born to an affluent family, she was educated at the St. Bridget's Convent in Colombo. As a child she studied art under Mudliyar A.C.G.S. Amarasekera and at the Heywood School of Art where she leant sculpting and pastel drawing. One of her early pastels won the first prize at a National Gallery Exhibition. A prolific painter, Rockwood did portraits of many prominent Sri Lankans and continued to paint into her eighties. Some of her work is in the permanent collection of the Sri Lanka National Art Gallery.
